The Mark 3 Golf was a bigger Golf than before and the GTi came in both 3 and 5 door versions. There also existed the 2.8 v6 engined VR6 car which offered effortlessly smooth power in an understated body. A new cabriolet version was also offered which carried on into the Mk 4 car. An estate version was also available.
